All American High School Film Festival

Lights, Camera, Action!   Two George F. Baker students will shine in the bright lights of New York City at the All American High School Film Festival next month!

Twelfth graders Samuel Kainatsky and Marley Vaught are the masterminds behind the film titled “Reinvention” - one of only 25 projects in the nation selected to be shown at the festival; it was entirely written, produced, edited and directed by the students.  “Reinvention” details the early life, professional accomplishments, and work ethic of Evgeny Vasilyev who operates World Gymnastics Academy in nearby Ringwood, New Jersey.   Samuel and Marley work part time at the gym and captured their boss’ story on film “because of his vibrant personality and history. Whenever we work and interact with him, he would disclose pieces of his past and his own mentality,”  which inspired them to tell his story to others.

The AAHSFF is a two-day event that provides a launching pad for the next generation of talented filmmakers by conducting industry-professional panels and workshops, the nation’s largest film and media college fair, hundreds of Official Selection film screenings, and other opportunities to network and make connections in the film industry.  The event culminates with the annual Teen Indie Awards Show where over $600,000 in prizes and scholarships are awarded.

We are so proud of Samuel and Marley, and wish them much success at the Festival!  We are sure that before long, they will be walking the red carpet!
