Dr. Jean-Paul Spotlight

TUFSD New Hire Spotlight!  For the first employee profile of this new series, we learn more about George G. Mason Elementary School Principal Dr. Melissa Jean-Paul:

Q:    Prior to joining the TUFSD family, where did your educational journey take you?

A:    I spent most of my career as a teacher and administrator in the Washingtonville Central School District at the elementary and middle school level. More recently, I was an elementary school principal in Nyack. I have been in education for a total of 25 years.

Q:           What are you most excited about for this upcoming school year?

A:    I am most excited about getting to know the GGM staff, students, and families. I really enjoy learning about people and their experiences in and out of school. I'm equally excited about becoming part of the Tuxedo and GGM community.

Q:    What was your favorite subject in school?

A:    My favorite subject in school was English Language Arts. All of my previous English teachers thought that I would be a great teacher. To this day, I still enjoy the writing process and of course, the finished product.

Q:           When you are FEELING stressed, what HELPS YOU relax?

A:    I like to get to a quiet place that allows me to pray. It clears my head and makes me see what is really important and resets my priorities. Going for walks outside in the fresh air is also helpful.

Q:    What ARE YOU thankful for?

A:    I'm thankful for my family. They have always been, and continue to be, a great support system. I know that they will always be there to cheer me on and encourage me during the tough times.
